The end for Gordon Brown?

Three quarters of people polled for a Populus poll for The Times think that Gordon Brown is a ‘loser’ - and nearly three fifths of those voted Labour in 2005.

It’s been a torrid time for Brown in recent months, 42 days, disastrous local and London Mayor elections, losing Crewe and Nantwich, losing deposit in Henley, cost of living, fuel prices, pay increases… I could go on.

He could be forgiven for thinking that he’s had some good news with Labour have finally selected a candidate for the “safe” seat of Glasgow East. With reports in The Scotsman saying that every Scottish Labour MP and MSP has been ordered to defend the seat, should he do badly in this the press will be speculating about who will be replacing him and when. Ladbrokes have already started taking bets; David Miliband is favourite at 5/2, with Tony Blair at 100/1, Cherie Blair at 200/1.

  1. I wonder if Mr Salter will be going to Glasgow, fresh from the campaign he says he ran in Henley which gave the Tories a bloody nose, ha ha
